Numberland® - The Early Mathe Development Programme by Prof. Preiss
for preschool, primary school and special education

"Be kind to the NUMBERS,
and they will be kind to you."
Over the past 20 years Prof. Gerhard Preiss (emeritus of Freiburg University of Education) has developed new paths for mathematics education in early childhood and special education. The basic (and innovative!) ideas of his projects stem from combining mathematics education with concepts from neurological research. This "Neurodidactical" approach focuses more on the child and his or her individual interests and talents than on the subject material.
The aim of Prof. Preiss's work is to give children a broad and lasting basis for understanding mathematics and to support the development of the natural talents of each individual child.
His mathematics education programme Numberland® includes lessons for children between 2,5 and 4 years of age:
Discoveries in Numberland for children 4+
Numberland Part 1 und 2 enables young children to learn about numbers in a hands-on and fun way, and helps them to build up knowledge about the world and associate this knowledge with their own lives.Little Duck's Adventureland for Children 2 1/2+
In Little Duck's Adventureland, children between 2 1/2 and 4 years old make many new discoveries about the world around them and learn basic mathematics concepts in a playful way.The Garden of Geometry
Gardens of Geometry provide natural settings for discovering and learning about numbers and geometric shapes. In Gardens of Geometry, the connection between basic arithmetics and geometry can be easily understood, because concepts are presented physically and can be experienced first-hand.
